Ingredient List for Patriotic Fruit Pizza

- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Icing:

- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 1/2 teaspoons heavy cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
Toppings

- Strawberries
- Blueberries
Directions For Making Patriotic Fruit Pizza
Cookie Crust
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Grab a medium-sized mixing bowl and use a whisk to combine the flour and baking powder. Set to the side.
- Place in your stand mixer (or if you don’t have one, use another mixing bowl and hand mixer) fitted with the paddle attachment butter and confectioner’s sugar. Cream these together until well combined.
- Add egg and vanilla. Beat these together until thoroughly combined. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Mix on low while slowly adding the flour mixture to the bowl. The dough will come together in somewhat of a ball. It should not be sticky.
- Transfer dough to the pizza pan and use a rolling pin to flatten out and fill the pan evenly. You may have to use your fingers a bit.
- Bake for approximately 8 1/2 minutes. Check the bottom at the 7 minute mark to ensure it is not browning too much. You want to bake just until the center is no longer wet and the bottom is a golden brown.
- Set crust aside to cool.
Icing
- Slice butter into 1 Tablespoon chunks
- Cream together butter, heavy cream, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl on medium-high speed for about 1 minute.
- Turn your mixer to medium-low speed and add the confectioner’s sugar slowly. Continue creaming ingredients until extremely smooth. Approximately 4 min.
- Return mixer to medium-high and beat until the icing is very fluffy. Approximately 5 minutes. DO NOT SKIMP ON THIS STEP! It is what whips the icing and makes it so fluffy and delicious!
Toppings
- Remove tops from strawberries
- Slice in half vertically
Assembling Your Patriotic Fruit Pizza
First, cover all but the edge of the cookie crust with a thin layer of icing. Place all icing but about 2 Tablespoons into a decorating bag fitted with a large star tip. Next, use your large tip to pipe a border around your fruit pizza.

Next, arrange the blueberries in the upper left corner to make the blue field of your “flag” and use the remaining 2 Tablespoons of icing in a second decorating bag fitted with a small star tip to make 50 small stars on the blue field.

Thirdly, beginning against the top border, begin to arrange the halved strawberries to make the red stripes. If you need to trim the slice for it to fit, that is perfectly fine!

Finally, using the large piping tip, pipe the white stripes using short, individual strokes.

Lastly, sit back and enjoy looking at your beautifully festive fruit pizza, and most importantly, share it with your friends! Happy Independence Day!
Additional Information
- A wonderful thing about this recipe is that you do not have to be an expert cake decorator because it will absolutely turn out beautifully even if your piping is less than perfect. (Thank goodness!)
- Because I am passionate about trying to make my recipes I share here cleaner, make sure you purchase organic blueberries and strawberries. Non-organic varieties are among some of the fruits that have the most chemical residue on them.
- Additionally, I definitely would also recommend organic powdered sugar and a good aluminum-free baking powder.
- As always, if this is not important to your family, you are welcome to use mainstream ingredients of any kind. It will be wonderful! After all, each family is different in their goals and how they live those out!
- Play around with some variations! I have also made this super cute by bordering the pizza with blueberries rather than piping icing! There are so many possibilities!
